CITY HEALTHCARE ON THE MOVE

CITY Healthcare continues to grow, bringing new customers, new investments, and new opportunities across the division. As that growth continues, CITY is also adding leaders who can support its teams, strengthen service, and help prepare the division for what comes next.

Leading that next chapter is Tyler Allen, General Manager of CITY Healthcare, who returns to CITY with over a decade of experience on the CITY Industrial side.

For Tyler, this next chapter is a step he has been looking for. Starting on the plant production side, Tyler worked his way up from washroom operator to stockroom manager and eventually production manager, working alongside current CITY President Colin Wetlaufer.

Working his way through the CITY industrial plant gave Tyler experience that he believes gives him a unique perspective.

“Working my way through those positions gave me the opportunity to learn the operation from the ground up and, more importantly, understand the work our employees do every day,” Tyler said.

After leaving CITY, Tyler broadened his laundry industry experience by working for Norchem Corp, a CITY vendor for close to 20 years. Norchem provides chemical, detergent, and water recycling solutions to the laundry industry, and Tyler served as an account representative.

That role exposed him to different laundry plants throughout the United States. Tyler was also involved in process improvements at CITY Healthcare a few years ago when the division became a Norchem customer alongside CITY Industrial.

“As a vendor and partner, you see an operation differently than you do when you’re part of it every day. I was able to continue building relationships with people throughout CITY while also gaining an even greater appreciation for the organization, its growth, and the people behind it.”

Tyler shared that one of the biggest lessons he has learned is that there is rarely only one way to solve a problem.

“Some of the best ideas come from listening to the people closest to the work,” Tyler said.

That mindset will be an important part of his approach as General Manager. Tyler describes himself as a hands-on leader who believes in being present, spending time on the production floor, asking questions, and understanding what is working and where the team sees opportunities to improve.

He says he is excited to work alongside the CITY team at the Pine City healthcare plant.

“I’m excited to reconnect with familiar faces, meet everyone who has joined since I left, and work together to make CITY Healthcare successful,” Tyler said.

And while equipment, chemistry, processes, and numbers all play an important role, Tyler says successful operations ultimately come down to one thing: people.

“None of it works without a team that communicates, trusts one another, and understands what we’re trying to accomplish,” Tyler said.
